Burns: Croyle, Conemaugh townships, Lorain awarded $1.57 million in state funding for road, bridge improvements

HARRISBURG, Feb. 24 -- Three communities in Cambria County will share more than $1.57 million in competitive state funding, thanks to the efforts of Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria.

Conemaugh and Croyle townships and Lorain borough will benefit from Burns’ work to secure these grants.

“I recently met with each of these municipalities to discuss these projects,” Burns said. “Many of the small communities I represent could never afford to make these types of major investments without state funding. I’ve made it my mission to support our local communities by helping them to secure grant funds that make projects like these possible.”

Conemaugh Township will use its $350,140 to repair multiple roads; Croyle Township will make sidewalk improvements and paving upgrades with $237,884 of the funding and use its remaining $347,476 to repave Tunnel Street. Lorain will replace the Highland Drive Bridge and make improvements along Green Valley Street with its $638,000 award.
