Burns presents annual Charlie Vizzini Volunteer Award
Award celebrates individual’s outstanding service to her community

JOHNSTOWN, Jan. 11 – On Wednesday, state Rep. Frak Burns, D-Cambria, presented Stephanie Urban with the annual Charlie Vizzini Volunteer Award to celebrate her outstanding service to her community.
“Every year it is my honor to recognize one person from our community who has made an incredible impact on the place we call home through their volunteer work,” Burns said. “This year’s winner, Stephanie Urban, is a shining example of what it means to be a volunteer, an individual who has tirelessly worked to help those less fortunate and promote kindness across Cambria County. I want to thank her for her work in our communities and congratulate her on this recognition.”
About Urban:
Urban, from Parkhill, has a volunteer history of working with the Liv Red Foundation, an organization dedicated to choosing kindness, exercising compassion and bringing out the best in humanity. She has organized special nights at area high schools to talk about the foundation. Other projects she has been involved in include programs that provide backpacks, free hats and gloves for kids, water and Gatorade for first responders; highway cleanup efforts; and talking to students about the dangers of drinking and driving. She also has worked to address food insecurity by serving meals to the less fortunate, participated in the Hope for Hunger food drive and worked on after-school meal programs.
Urban was nominated by Joe Antal.
Given to an outstanding volunteer in the 72nd Legislative District, the award was created in honor of Charlie Vizzini, who volunteered more than 8,000 hours in Burns’ legislative office – fielding more than 1,000 constituent service matters and saving taxpayers more than $100,000. The awards ceremony was Jan. 10 in the East Taylor Fire Company’s fire hall.
