Grants to improve water quality, fish habitat

EBENSBURG, Dec. 30 – Local waterways, communities and anglers will benefit from more than $69,700 in state grants for stream stabilization and fish habitat construction, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, announced today.
“These funds will improve water quality and fish habitat on several local waterways,” Burns said. “These are another investment in our environment and outdoor recreation in Cambria County and a step to ensuring future generations can enjoy them as well.”
The grants, made through the Department of Environmental Protection’s Growing Greener Program, will fund fish habitation construction along Laurel Run in Croyle Township, and streambed stabilization projects in Chest and Jackson townships.
