Burns: Admiral Perry to receive $55,511 to help reopen

Federal funds can be used for equipment, technology, other safety applications

EBENSBURG, Aug. 14 – Today state Rep. Frank Burns announced that Admiral Perry Vo-Tech has been selected to receive a $55,511 grant to help support education during the coronavirus crisis.

“Our schools have had to make extraordinary adjustments since the onset of this health crisis and these funds can help Admiral Perry take the steps it needs to ensure the safety of students and their continued educations,” said Burns, D-Cambria. “This is just the latest round of federal relief funding that I have fought to make sure Cambria gets its fair share of – and not just the big cities.”

Career and technical centers were awarded CTC Equity grants, funded by federal relief dollars. These grants are used to support effective continuity of education programs and industry credential assessments for enrolled students who were negatively impacted by COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

Since 2014-15, the number of career and technical education students earning industry-recognized credentials has increased by 50.1 percent and the number of credentials earned by students enrolled in CTE programs has grown by 43.3 percent.
