Heating assistance program to open Dec. 3 + volunteering at Caring for Friends

Understanding your electric bill

Effective Dec. 1, energy supply prices will adjust meaning an increase in electric bills for many ratepayers. This change is applied to the electricity you use, so as we’re headed into the winter months it’s a good time to prepare for the likely increased energy usage. Weatherize your home by sealing drafts and replacing your furnace filter, and explore other energy-saving tools.

If you’re concerned about paying your utility bill, contact your provider now to ask about assistance programs or payment plan options before it’s too late. You can also use PA Navigate to help find immediate resources. Local help is also available by calling 211 or visiting https://www.pa211.org/.

Applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP) will open on Dec. 3. Please contact my office if you need help applying for LIHEAP or any other utility-related issue.

Volunteering at Caring for Friends

This week, I joined my colleagues in the Philadelphia delegation to volunteer at Caring for Friends.

As we all know, food insecurity is a constant stressor for our communities. Organizations such as Caring for Friends alleviate that stress by providing food to pantries and food banks throughout the city.

I had a great time giving back to the community and caring for our neighbors across the city.

Holiday office hours

My team and I wish you and your loved ones a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving. Please note that our office will be closed for the holiday from Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 28, and will reopen for regular business hours on Monday, Dec. 1.

I am thankful to represent you and our dedicated community. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
