Briggs announces $1.77 million in state funding for area projects

KING OF PRUSSIA, Sept. 17 – State Rep. Tim Briggs today announced more than $1.77 million in Local Share Account grants awarded to projects across his legislative district, in partnership with state Sen. Amanda Cappelletti, supporting downtown revitalization, infrastructure improvements, pedestrian safety, trail development and public works facilities.
The Ardmore Business District Authority received $68,535 for the Downtown Ardmore Placemaking Program.
“Investing in our downtowns is an investment in the vitality of our communities,” Briggs said. “This funding will help create a more welcoming and vibrant downtown Ardmore, supporting local businesses while giving residents and visitors an improved place to gather, shop and spend time.”
Bridgeport Borough received $508,692 for the redevelopment of the 440 Mill St. parking lot.
“This investment will help Bridgeport make better use of an important piece of its downtown infrastructure,” Briggs said. “Redeveloping the 440 Mill Street parking lot will improve accessibility and convenience for residents, businesses and visitors while supporting the continued revitalization of the borough.”
The City Avenue Special Services District of Philadelphia and Lower Merion received $400,000 for a sidewalk improvement project, a grant secured in partnership with state Rep. Mary Jo Daley.
“Safe, accessible and well-maintained sidewalks are fundamental to a thriving community,” Briggs said. “This funding will make important improvements along the City Avenue corridor, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for pedestrians and strengthening an area that connects residents, businesses and communities on both sides of the city line.”
Montgomery County received $450,000 for the Valley Forge Connector Trail, Segment 5.
“Expanding our trail network gives residents more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors while creating stronger connections between our communities,” Briggs said. “The Valley Forge Connector Trail is an important regional investment, and this funding will help move Segment 5 forward and bring us closer to a more connected and accessible trail system.”
Upper Merion Township received $348,550 for renovations to its public works facility.
“Our public works employees provide essential services that residents rely on every day, and they deserve facilities that allow them to do their jobs safely and effectively,” Briggs said. “These renovations will strengthen Upper Merion’s public infrastructure and help ensure the township can continue providing high-quality services to the community.”
The Local Share Account program is funded through gaming revenues distributed under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act through the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The program supports projects in the public interest that improve the quality of life for residents and communities across Pennsylvania.
Eligible applicants include Pennsylvania counties, municipalities, municipal authorities, economic development agencies, redevelopment authorities, land banks and councils of government. Grant amounts vary based on the specific requirements of each project.
“Investments like these have a direct impact on the communities we call home,” Briggs said. “Whether improving a downtown, making streets and sidewalks safer, expanding recreational opportunities or strengthening the facilities that support essential services, these projects will help make our communities stronger and more connected.”
Briggs represents the 149th Legislative District, which includes Bridgeport, West Conshohocken, Upper Merion and parts of Lower Merion in Montgomery County.
