LOWER MERION, Dec. 30 – State Rep. Tim Briggs, D-Montgomery, today announced that Lower Merion Township has been awarded $385,596.17 through the Green Light-Go Program to modernize traffic signals along Lancaster and Elliott avenues, improving traffic flow and safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
“Upgrading our traffic signals is about more than just easing congestion—it’s about protecting our community and keeping our roads safe for everyone,” Briggs said. “I’m proud to see Lower Merion Township receive this funding to invest in modern, efficient and smart traffic management systems that respond to real-time conditions.”
The Green Light-Go Program, officially known as Pennsylvania’s Municipal Signal Partnership Program, is a competitive state grant program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals.
Modernization efforts funded through the program may include installing LED technology, upgrading traffic signal detection and control systems, retiming signals, developing special event traffic plans, and monitoring traffic signals to ensure real-time responsiveness to traffic conditions.
“Investments like this keep our communities moving safely and efficiently,” Briggs added. “I encourage all municipalities to take advantage of programs like Green Light-Go to make our roads safer and more modern for everyone.”
