Bizzarro applauds $38K grant for Tri-Boro Senior Center

Funding will help pay for building improvements and renovations

FAIRVIEW, May 14 – Local seniors are receiving a boost to help them continue aging at home thanks to grant funding from the state, state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie) announced Wednesday.

The Tri-Boro Senior Center in Fairview has been awarded $38,250 for capital improvements and renovations. It’s one of 436 senior community centers statewide receiving funding to help ensure older adults have access to places where they can connect with services and their communities. The Tri-Boro Senior Center, located on West Ridge Road in Fairview, offers seniors various leisure and educational programs, support groups, and special events, in addition to serving as a resource for the local area on aging.

“Community centers are vital to helping our seniors continue living at home while giving them a place to interact with other seniors, participate in programs, and access community resources. This money will help the community center upgrade its facility, making it a more welcoming and inclusive place for all,” said Bizzarro, who represents Fairview and Millcreek townships in Erie County. “Our seniors deserve to age with dignity, and this is just one step we can take to make sure they can do so.”

The Shapiro Administration announced $3 million was distributed amongst 436 senior community centers across the state. The money was distributed through the Pennsylvania Dept. of Aging and funded by Pennsylvania Lottery proceeds.

With this grant announcement, Bizzarro has helped direct more than $4.1 million in state investments back to Erie County so far this year.
