Keeping Your Rates Low | Replacing Erie's Lead Pipes | Working for You

WORKING TO KEEP YOUR RATES LOW

Millcreek Township needs to replace major infrastructure that has reached the end of its operational life cycle. That could have meant a huge burden for local taxpayers, including millions of dollars in upgrades.

So, I’m thankful the state has approved a low-interest loan to cover the $3.8 million project to replace sewer lines and the force main used to pump water – allowing the township to replace outdated parts in the system as well as lowering the risk for major leaks and breaks. We are already living with the everyday pain of inflation and the rising cost of living, so I’m hopeful this loan will allow Millcreek Township to make considerable upgrades while avoiding major rate increases.

Find all the details on this loan and project here.

REPLACING ERIE’S LEAD SERVICE LINES

No lead exposure is safe, even low levels are harmful. That’s why the state grant for $9.6 million and a $370,884 loan to replace water service lines made of lead is welcome news.

When Erie residents turn on their taps, they shouldn’t have to think twice about whether the water is safe to consume or use. We know that lead exposure can be extremely harmful to people of all ages. This project will make sure the remainder of lead service lines in the city are replaced, improving water quality and giving residents peace-of-mind when using their taps. Safe drinking water is not a luxury—it’s a basic human right.

WORKING FOR YOU

I will always advocate for you and local projects in Harrisburg. Our region is vital to the state’s economy, so I’ve gone to work to secure the state funding we need for local schools, seniors, veterans, improved housing and local businesses. I helped secure $92 million in funding for local projects during the 2023-24 session, and this year state funding for projects in our region has surpassed $18.6 million.

You sent me to Harrisburg to make sure our region has a voice at the table and receives the funding it needs to thrive.

HONORING OUR HERITAGE

Italian American Heritage Month serves as a tribute to the grit, heart, food and family that define our story. From the arts to public service, from our kitchens to our neighborhoods — Italian Americans have made lasting contributions to the fabric of this country. Proud to celebrate our heritage this month and every month.

HOW WE VOTED

The House returns to session on Oct. 27. You can see how the House voted on all bills here.

SENATE BUDGET IMPASSE

I'm standing up for PA's workers and working families. Pennsylvania needs a budget that doesn't raise taxes, and working families need a budget that supports our schools, health care and public safety! The House has passed THREE bipartisan budgets for the Senate Majority to take up, but the Senate has yet to vote on a single one of those bills in the 100+ days since the budget was due.

The House Democrats remain committed to finding middle ground, while Harrisburg Republicans seem content to do nothing. House Democrats will return to Harrisburg to finalize a budget as soon as Harrisburg Republicans prioritize passing a budget.

POLICY COMMITTEE CONTINUES WORK

This year, the House Majority Policy Committee has held 42 hearings across 32 ZIP codes in 13 counties, and we expect to host more than 100 hearings this session — our typical workload.

As a member of the House Majority Leadership team, I serve as Chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee. We travel the state, exploring issues and talking to members of the community, workers, advocates and experts on a variety of topics. We examine issues to see if there is a legislative solution to improving lives across the commonwealth.

Election Day is coming up fast, and you don’t have to worry about finding the time to vote if you ask for your ballot now! For me, it’s easy to securely fill it out at home and return it when it’s convenient.

Vote by mail comes with the added bonus of being able to track my ballot as it gets processed by the county. It’s your choice - if you want to apply for yours, you can do so now.
