Thank you to everyone who came out to National Night Out on Tuesday, the annual community-building event that encourages neighbors and first responders to come together in a positive setting.

Pennsylvania remains at an impasse in budget negotiations, and we continue to sound the alarm that the Senate GOP lacks any urgency to pass this budget. The state does not have a Democratic vs. Republican problem, it has a Republican vs. Republican problem – where nothing is advancing in the upper chamber because of Senate GOP in-fighting.
The House passed a budget spending plan about a month ago that came in $1.5 billion under Gov. Shapiro’s proposal. The Senate gutted the bill and replaced it with … nothing.
The House Transportation Committee is still attempting to find common ground for transit funding, and it passed its FIFTH comprehensive transportation spending proposal that wouldn't raise taxes on Wednesday. This bill would ensure your roads and bridges get fixed, and it would also make sure buses transport seniors, veterans and workers to their medical appointments and jobs.
From northwestern PA to the southeast, transportation is facing a funding crisis that will hurt PA's economy. The Senate GOP’s failure to act would cost the state BILLIONS in productivity. Southeast PA creates 40% of the state’s economic activity in 5% of the state’s land area, a staggering fact that's only possible because of mass transit. Moreover, its transit agency also has contracts for goods and services with local businesses in 39 counties around the state, contracts that could be canceled and further cripple our economy.

As a member of the House Majority Leadership team, I serve as Chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee. We travel the state, exploring issues and talking to members of the community, workers, advocates and experts on a variety of topics. We examine issues to see if there is a legislative solution to improving lives across the commonwealth. We have hosted 24 hearings across 17 ZIP codes in 7 counties so far this year, and we expect to host 100+ hearings this session – which is our typical workload.
Up next: The Policy Committee will travel to Centre County Tuesday and Philadelphia from Aug. 18-20.

When private for-profit schools and their dark money backers came after Fairview and Millcreek School Districts to siphon off taxpayer dollars to make a profit off taxpayers. I stopped them. We need to protect our high-performing schools!
My team and I deliver for local people & projects. We cut the red tape in Harrisburg to secure the support our region needs.
- When our schools need funding ...
- When our police officers need a new vehicle to preserve lives ...
- When our firefighters need funds for life-saving equipment ...
We delivered to the tune of more than $92 million during the 2023-24 legislative session.
