WHEN WILL WE HAVE A STATE BUDGET?
|
Divided government requires leadership and compromise — and on Monday, the House delivered both.
We advanced a responsible spending plan, cutting $1 BILLION from Gov. Shapiro’s original budget proposal — and we did it with BIPARTISAN SUPPORT.
You aren’t asking for political drama — you’re looking for results. We delivered:
- Safe, well-funded schools → nearly $1B investment
- Access to health care → $4.5B to protect Medicaid
- Stronger communities → boosted funding for safety, roads, and infrastructure.
While the House has been in session each week of July attempting to pass a budget, the state Senate gaveled out on June 30th and didn’t return to Harrisburg for more than two weeks — despite the fact we have a constitutional obligation to pass a budget. Now the Senate GOP are complaining about the need for more cuts? They’re letting a radical minority within their majority get in the way of progress.
They’ve dodged decisions on cannabis and skill games for years — now they want to stall the budget over it?
It’s time for the Senate GOP to stop posturing, stop distracting with divisive issues, and get back to work. We need to wrap up this budget responsibly and expeditiously.
You can always see how the House voted here.

As a member of the House Majority Leadership team, I serve as Chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee. We travel the state, exploring issues and talking to members of the community, workers, advocates and experts on a variety of topics. We examine issues to see if there is a legislative solution to improving lives across the commonwealth. We have hosted 22 hearings across 15 ZIP codes in 7 counties so far this year, and we expect to host 100+ hearings this session – which is our typical workload.
Up next: The Policy Committee had a full month of travel planned for July, but as budget negotiations continue, the committee is reworking its schedule and is now hoping to travel to York and Berks counties July 28-29.

When private for-profit schools and their dark money backers came after Fairview and Millcreek School Districts to siphon off taxpayer dollars to make a profit off taxpayers. I stopped them. We need to protect our high-performing schools!
My team and I deliver for local people & projects. We cut the red tape in Harrisburg to secure the support our region needs.
- When our schools need funding ...
- When our police officers need a new vehicle to preserve lives ...
- When our firefighters need funds for life-saving equipment ...
We delivered to the tune of more than $92 million during the 2023-24 legislative session.
