Mayes invites parents, advocates to first statewide Black Maternal Health Summit -- Includes Schedule of Events

Lawmakers holding three-day-event in Pittsburgh for Black Maternal Health Week 2025

PITTSBURGH, April 10 – State Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes and the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus are inviting residents to a three-day-event April 14 through 16 celebrating Black Maternal Health Week. Click here to view the schedule.

Mayes said the first statewide summit dedicated to Black maternal health will feature powerful conversations, engaging demonstrations, and inspiring events that highlight the importance of health equity.

This event builds on the ongoing work of Mayes and PA Black Maternal Health Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Gina H. Curry and Rep. Morgan Cephas to address the urgent need for equitable maternal health care. Through legislative advocacy -- specifically through the introduction of the PA MOMNIBUS this session -- Mayes and the caucus have been at the forefront of amplifying the voices of Black mothers and families across Pennsylvania.

Their efforts underscore the critical importance of tackling systemic disparities in maternal health outcomes and ensuring that every mother has access to the care and support she deserves. Black Maternal Health Week serves as a powerful reminder of the work still needed to achieve health equity and celebrates the progress made through initiatives like this statewide summit.

Registration is required to attend. Details on the event agenda, hotel accommodations, and the registration form can be found on the event website: https://bit.ly/43HmJZh.
