Markosek announces $2.2 million in grants for road, pedestrian safety and stormwater improvements

MONROEVILLE, Jan. 20 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, announced today that more than $2.2 million in state grants will support critical improvements to roads, pedestrian safety, and infrastructure projects across the 25th Legislative District.

“From upgraded roadways and safer pedestrian crossings to enhanced stormwater management, this funding addresses key needs in our communities,” Markosek said. “I’m proud to have advocated for these projects, which will improve public safety and strengthen our local infrastructure.”

Markosek said that grants from the Multimodal Transportation Fund include:

  • $250,000 to East McKeesport to reconstruct 26 streets located in the borough.
  • $200,000 to Pitcairn to repair Hillside Avenue.
  • $300,000 to Pitcairn for pedestrian safety improvements along Broadway Boulevard.
  • $350,000 to Wilmerding to reconstruct Westinghouse Avenue and Caldwell Avenue.

He added that grants from the Small Water and Sewer Program include:

  • $62,417 to the North Versailles Township Sanitary Authority for old 5th Avenue storm water rehabilitation.
  • $300,000 to Monroeville for the municipality’s stormwater rehabilitation and flood reduction project.
  • $300,000 to Plum for the fourth phase of the Holiday Park stormwater project.
  • $402,050 to Turtle Creek for the borough’s stormwater separation project.
  • $133,250 to the North Versailles Township Sanitary Authority for sewer replacement.

Funding from both the Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Small Water and Sewer Program is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency established in 2004 to oversee Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus and infrastructure investments.
