Goughnour: $2.7 million in grants to benefit 12 projects in 35th District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 20 — State Rep. Dan Goughnour, D-Allegheny, and state Sen. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, today announced that more than $2.7 million in grants has been awarded for 12 projects that will benefit the 35th Legislative District.

“Our communities rely on this funding to improve and maintain our streets and our infrastructure,” Goughnour said. “This funding will make our streets and sidewalks safer and improve our water and sewer systems. I’m happy to be an advocate in Harrisburg for bringing these dollars home to the Mon Valley.”

“These investments address essential infrastructure needs, including roads, water and sewer systems that communities depend on every day,” Pisciottano said. “By securing this funding, we’re helping municipalities make critical improvements that protect public health, improve safety and strengthen our region for the long term.”

The recipients of each grant are:

  • Port Vue Borough: $75,000 for Portsmouth streetscape improvement
  • Versailles Borough: $350,000 for Worthington and Vine streets rehab project
  • City of Duquesne: $367,268 for street paving and reconstruction
  • Homestead Borough: $350,000 to repave ten streets
  • Liberty Borough: $396,898 for Elizabeth Street storm sewer
  • City of Duquesne: $483,225 for lead/copper waterline replacement
  • Whitaker Borough: $78,200 for storm inlet debris controls
  • White Oak Borough: $200,000 for storm sewer cleaning and televising
  • City of McKeesport: $106,250 for CCTV camera work
  • Munhall Borough: $170,000 for storm sewer improvements
  • Port Vue Borough: $96,988 for stream embankment restoration
  • South Versailles Township: $100,000 for sanitary sewer system repairs

The grants were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund or Small Water and Sewer program.
