Deasy: More than $1.6 million in tax credits awarded to support affordable housing in Fairywood

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 15 – State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, announced today that more than $1.6 million in tax credits will support a new affordable housing project for seniors in Pittsburgh’s Fairywood neighborhood.

The Hill Top Villas development on Broadhead Fording Road will receive $1.67 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. The project will include construction of a one-story, 46,703-square-foot building with 48 one-bedroom apartments for residents age 62 or older, including six accessible units.

“This project is a great example of how we can invest in our neighborhoods while taking care of our seniors,” Deasy said. “Hill Top Villas will provide safe, affordable housing and help older adults stay connected to the Fairywood community they’ve long been part of.”

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency awarded the tax credits. PHFA helps expand affordable housing options for older adults, low- and moderate-income families, and people with special housing needs. Statewide, the agency has allocated more than $66.5 million in tax credits this year to support over 1,900 new and rehabilitated housing units. For more information, visit www.phfa.org.
