Kulik applauds nearly $750,000 in state funding for local parks and economic development projects

CORAOPOLIS, Jan. 28 – State Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Allegheny, today announced $747,839 in grant funding authorized by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to improve local parks and economic development projects.

Kulik announced the following award from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program:

  • Carnegie Borough - $200,000 to make the Irishtown Tot Park and Carnegie Municipal Park more accessible to children with disabilities. The project includes equipment, multi-sensory and ground-level play items, quiet spaces, ground cover and removing old equipment.

“This investment ensures that all children, regardless of ability, have the opportunity to play, explore and enjoy our community’s parks,” Kulik said. “Creating inclusive, accessible spaces is essential to fostering a welcoming environment for every family in Carnegie. I’m proud to support this funding, which will make a lasting impact on our children and their quality of life.”

Kulik announced additional funding from the Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Western PA in Carnegie - $214,539 for HVAC replacement at the Carnegie Clubhouse.
  • Mancini’s Bakery Inc. in McKees Rocks - $80,000 for the bakery’s addition project, which includes acquiring building and demolition, equipment purchase, engineering, architectural planning and sidewalk repairs.
  • The Municipal Authority of the Township of Robinson - $253,300 for the Route 60 waterline replacement from Church Hill Road to Tidball Road.

The GEDTF program is overseen by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County and the state Commonwealth Financing Authority. The grants provide financial assistance to entities to facilitate economic development projects in Allegheny County.
