Protecting Public Access to Vaccines

Pharmacies are one of the easiest places for many of us to receive our vaccinations. Due to chaos in Washington, we are seeing this access being put at risk.

That is why I am joining with several of my colleagues to introduce H.B. 1881, which would ensure that pharmacists can administer vaccines based on recommendations from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, not just the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I enjoyed speaking with Dennis Owens on “This Week in Pennsylvania” about this legislation and H.B. 1828, my other bill that would require private insurers to cover vaccines recommended by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Recognizing Our Local Students’ Athletic and Academic Success

Two students from Avonworth School District, Nathan Kline and Cole Purdy, were named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program for their exceptional academic promise. These students ranked among the top 50,000 who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 PSAT. You can read more about their accomplishments here.

Thirty-one students from North Allegheny School District were also recognized as Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. You can read more about their accomplishments here.

Two seniors from North Allegheny School District, Kayli Dings and Preston Troiano, won sectionals in WPIAL Girls and Boys Golf, respectively.

Congratulations to our local students, who have put so much hard work and dedication into their academics and athletics!

Learning More About Clean Energy – and Other District News

I had the opportunity to join Congressman Chris Deluzio for a clean energy tour of CCAC North in McCandless to learn more about their work in the energy transition. We discussed solar energy and jobs that can be created with the electrification of vehicles, which are great opportunities environmentally and economically.
