Centre Communities Awarded More than $1 Million in Public Infrastructure Grants

HARRISBURG – Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Paul Takac (D-82) today announced the Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded more than $1 million in grants for infrastructure improvement projects in Centre County.
“At the beginning of the year, Sen. Dush and I made a commitment to work together wherever we could to deliver for the people and communities we serve,” said Takac. “Therefore, I think it’s fitting that as the year comes to a close, we are able to announce another round of grant funding totaling more than $1 million for much needed projects in rural Centre County. Together, our joint efforts have produced more than $2.5 million in grant funding in 2023 for everything from water and sewer system upgrades to new fire engines and building repairs. I look forward to working with the senator and his team in the new year on even more opportunities and projects to benefit the Centre County residents.”
The following Centre County recipients were approved for funding by the Commonwealth Financing Authority:
Beech Creek Borough Authority – $171,505
The funding will be used to toward the Franklin Street Waterline Extension project located in Liberty Township.
Mid-Centre County Authority – $559,000
The funding will be used to rehabilitate a disk filter tank and disinfection system and install upgrades to the treatment plant in Boggs Township.
Mid-Centre County Authority – $218,658
The funding will be used toward upgrades for Pump Station Number 1 in Boggs Township.
Mountaintop Regional Water Authority – $78,889
The funding will be used to improve the water distribution system in Snow Shoe Borough.
“I’m glad Rep. Takac and I have been able to focus on the critical needs of our constituents instead of partisanship, and, again, work together to advocate for the people of Centre County,” said Dush. “The $2.5 million Rep. Takac and I have worked together to secure for projects in Centre County during this past year is the product of prioritizing infrastructure over politics. I’m thankful he and I have been able to serve the people of Centre County, and I look forward to building on the funding we’ve secured this year in 2024.”
