Three Pisciottano bills pass through PA House
Legislation on workers’ comp, workers’ rights, and consumer protections head to Senate

HARRISBURG, May 4 – Three bills prime sponsored by state Rep. Nick Pisciottano passed through the House this week and are now heading for a vote in the Senate.
“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to draft laws that would make real, material improvements for Pennsylvanians,” said Pisciottano, D-Allegheny. “I’m a firm believer that getting things done requires working across the aisle and am especially proud that all three of my bills passed this week received bipartisan support.”
Pisciottano’s bill to amend the Automobile Lemon Law to also cover motorcycles (H.B. 360) passed the House unanimously on Monday. He thanked former state Rep. Pam Snyder, who championed the bill in previous sessions, for her dedication to this legislation.
On Tuesday, Pisciottano’s bill to allow workers’ compensation to be paid via direct deposit (H.B. 760) passed the House with a vote of 114-86.
Co-prime sponsored by Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler, D-Phila., Pisciottano’s bill to codify workers’ right to organize (H.B. 950) into the Pennsylvania Constitution passed the House yesterday with a vote of 102-99.
“Supporting workers and protecting consumers are two of my biggest priorities as a lawmaker,” said Pisciottano. “I am committed to doing everything in my power to create a fairer economy for working people so that they can live dignified lives with their families – and these bills would unequivocally get us closer to that. I am hopeful they are passed swiftly by my colleagues in the Senate.”
In addition to the three bills above, another bill and a resolution from Pisciottano advanced through committees yesterday.
Now reported out of the Local Government Committee, H.B. 787 would allow more borough employees to run for municipal office in their borough, a bill Pisciottano said would help many boroughs in Pennsylvania that are struggling to fill elected positions.
A resolution sponsored by Pisciottano as well as Reps. Danilo Burgos and Jose Giral to recognize September 15 as Roberto Clemente Day passed out of the Tourism & Economic & Recreational Development Committee.
