Rep. Pisciottano: $100,000 awarded to build local indoor athletic facility

State grant funds allocated to construct four-season sports practice space

BALDWIN, Feb. 9 – State Rep. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, announced today that the Greater Baldwin Whitehall Athletic Association has been awarded $100,000 through a state grant program to build a multi-use, indoor practice building.

“This investment will benefit thousands of young athletes in our area,” Pisciottano said. “I’m very proud that this new building will create opportunities for local kids to develop important life skills through sports programs.”

Pisciottano added that the GBWAA currently serves more than 1,500 children, ages 4-to-18, in the Baldwin-Whitehall area, primarily focusing on baseball and softball.

Jesse J. Siefert, president of the GBWAA, specified that the new, indoor facility will also include spaces for “basketball and team building activities” year-round.

The funds are sourced from a Department of Community and Economic Development grant program.
