Kinkead announces $15,000 state grant to help Bellevue go electric

BELLEVUE, July 16 – State Rep. Emily Kinkead, D-Allegheny, announced today that the borough of Bellevue has been awarded a $15,000 state grant to support the purchase of one electric passenger vehicle and one electric passenger truck.

The grant, awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program, will help Bellevue expand its municipal fleet with clean, energy-efficient transportation options.

“I’m proud to support Bellevue’s commitment to sustainability,” Kinkead said. “Investing in electric vehicles is a smart move that reduces harmful emissions, lowers fuel costs, and moves us closer to our climate goals. This funding will help Bellevue modernize its fleet in a way that’s good for the environment and good for taxpayers.”

The AFIG program provides funding to municipalities, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to support the adoption of alternative fuel vehicles and fueling infrastructure.

“This grant is just one example of how state funding can empower our local communities to lead by example in the fight against climate change,” Kinkead said. “I’ll continue working to bring these kinds of investments home to our district.”
