Rep. Emily Kinkead August 29, 2025 | 2:44 PM
In this update:
Office Closed for Labor Day
My office will be closed on Friday, August 29 and Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day.
As a state lawmaker, I will always stand on the side of working people and continue fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity on the job, for ALL workers.
Give us a call at 412-321-553 or email RepKinkead@pahouse.net and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible to help you however we can.
Riverview Avenue Closed Through November 7
Please be advised that now through November 7, Riverview Avenue in Riverview Park will be closed to vehicular traffic beyond the Observatory and Activities Building entrances to Locust Grove to allow for work to remediate areas of the park affected by landslides.
Access to Locust Grove and the remaining portion of the park loop will be from Mairdale Avenue. Accommodations have been made with CitiParks for the upcoming RiverBOO! Park 5K, providing pedestrian access during the race.
In the map above, the green areas will remain open, the yellow section will be converted to two-way traffic, maintaining access to Locust Grove, and the red area will be closed to vehicular traffic.

My Bill to Shield Homeowners from Landslide Damages
“This is really just recognizing that the commercial insurance industry is not stepping up to cover these costs.”
As landslides and sinkholes continue to leave Pennsylvania property owners in financial ruin, impacted communities across the state continue to express the need for a proactive solution like H.B. 589, my legislation to create a landslide and sinkhole insurance program through the state.
When these natural disasters occur, as they often do here in Allegheny County, homeowners are often left footing the bill because there are no options to purchase landslide or sinkhole insurance. That’s why I’m proposing this safety net bill: to fill gaps in an area neglected by private insurers.
Read more about my bill here.
Learn About Cannabis Legalization
I have once again introduced bipartisan legislation (H.B. 20) to legalize adult-use cannabis in Pennsylvania. My office has put together a new one-page explainer that breaks down what’s in the bill, now available on my website.
My office had a great time tabling at the Pittsburgh Cannabis Festival, sharing information and hearing from so many of you who want to see the state finally move on recreational cannabis.
