Inglis, Pisciottano secure $176,000 in community investments

Bicameral collaboration delivers state funding for emergency services, municipal facilities

WHITEHALL, Aug. 6 – Working together to deliver state dollars for first responders and public infrastructure, state Rep. John Inglis and Sen. Nick Pisciottano today announced $176,000 in state grant money was awarded to local entities as a result of their joint efforts.

“Fighting to ensure first responders in our corner of Allegheny County get the funding they need is one of the most critical aspects of my job as a state representative,” said Inglis, D-Allegheny. “I’m always proud to work alongside Sen. Pisciottano to secure grants like these that are direct investments in the safety and well-being of our constituents. We are committed to working together to bring home every dollar we can from Harrisburg.”

“These investments reflect our commitment to listening to our communities and delivering results,” said Pisciottano, D-Allegheny. “I’m proud to stand with our local leaders and first responders to bring meaningful improvements to the people we serve.”

Inglis and Pisciottano said the following grants were awarded through the state Department of Community and Economic Development:

  • $50,000 to Whitehall Fire Co. for building renovations and new equipment.
  • $26,000 to Whitehall Borough to purchase and install tables, benches, and bike racks in borough parks.
  • $25,000 to Glassport Police for bullet proof vests and body cam purchases.
  • $25,000 to Baldwin Police for safety equipment purchases.
  • $25,000 to West Mifflin #3 Volunteer Fire Co. for equipment purchases.
  • $25,000 to Dravosburg #1 Volunteer Fire Department to help purchase a new rescue truck.

Both officials encouraged local entities and organizations that may be eligible for state grants to contact their offices for the latest information on open grant programs and assistance with the application process.
