Inglis, Pisciottano secure $250,000 for Glassport sidewalk repairs

State grant to fund sidewalk reconstruction on Monongahela Avenue

GLASSPORT, Feb. 25 – State Rep. John Inglis announced today a $250,000 state grant has been awarded to rebuild sidewalks in Glassport.

“Building better sidewalks along Monongahela Avenue will make Glassport safer and more accessible for pedestrians,” said Inglis, D-Allegheny. “I’m proud to have worked with Senator Pisciottano to pave the way for this investment in our community and am eager to continue working together to make safer streets across Allegheny County.”

Inglis said the grant was awarded to the borough to fund the reconstruction of three blocks of sidewalks on Monongahela Avenue.

“By investing in transportation, we are not just improving roads and bridges, we are investing in the future of our communities,” said state Sen. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny. “I will continue to work with state and local officials to secure more resources to support these types of essential projects.”

The grant was awarded from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority and provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
