Who holds the power in government?

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you have a joyful Thanksgiving holiday filled with laughter and delicious food!

In observance of Thanksgiving, my office will be closed on Wednesday, November 26, and will remain closed until Monday, December 1. All voicemails and emails will be returned when we reopen.

Today, I was happy to stand beside Gov. Shapiro and my colleagues to celebrate the CROWN act signed by Gov. Shapiro!

This isn’t just a bill to me or the women who stood with us today—it’s personal. It affirms something we, as African Americans, have long known: our natural hair is beautiful and a celebration of who we are.

Happy Hollow Playground Groundbreaking

I was thrilled to join state and city colleagues, neighbors and friends for the groundbreaking ceremony at Happy Hollow Playground.

As Philly’s oldest rec center, it’s given countless young men and women hope by giving them space to play, grow and learn.

One of my greatest joys as a State Representative is supporting our community so it can grow and thrive. This is why I am so proud of where I’m from! When our community needs something, we do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible – an investment in our youth is also an investment in our future!

Sassy Seniors with WURD Radio

I dropped by the Sassy Senior event hosted by WURD Radio at Nicetown Court. I’m standing with Dr. Wardlaw (my primary doctor: located in Nicetown) and elder Joyce Brooks.

The event was to help Philadelphia’s senior African American community gain information on Medicare open enrollment and ask questions from insurance and senior service experts about the best options as they get older.

Thank you to Caring for Friends for supporting my constituents and ensuring they have enough food for the holiday!

Supporting Small Businesses

My staff and I joined the Olney Community Collaborative for a walk through the business corridor! We visited local businesses to show our support and listened to how we can best help them thrive.

My team also visited businesses along 5th street!

Small businesses empower our community – we must support them!

If you are a small business owner and want my office to stop by – contact us today!

Speaking of small businesses

Remember, Nov. 29 is Small Business Saturday – make sure you stop at our local owned businesses to support our community and get ahead of holiday shopping.

Does the PA Treasury have your Unclaimed Property?

The PA State Treasury has hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed property in their vault - and some of it could belong to YOU! It could be as simple as a misspelled name or an out-of-date address that’s keeping you from your claim. And now with Money Match, property less than $500 can be returned to you automatically!

My office is here to help you search for any uncashed checks or payments, old bank accounts, tangible property, or any other assets that could belong to you. Click here to send my office an email so we can connect you with any possible unclaimed property that is rightfully yours!
