Happy Labor Day

The school year has officially started, and I was happy to welcome the students and families at Edward T. Steel School while helping to distribute supplies. It was heartwarming to watch the students kick off another great school year.

Last weekend's Vibe & Thrive Event
|
I loved seeing my friends and neighbors come out for our Vibe & Thrive event! We enjoyed great food, conversation, and music. Community events are a wonderful way to connect with more of my constituents and show them how we can help!

On September 26th, FathersRead365 launches Fathers Read on Friday—a national movement to put fathers, uncles, grandfathers, mentors, and brothers in classrooms across America.
One Friday, one story, one man at a time—we’re showing our kids that men read, men lead, and men show up.
This is bigger than a program—it’s a movement to change the narrative for our children and communities. Will you answer the call?

I hope the school year is off to a great start for our students!

While school selection for the 2025–26 school year is now closed, I want to alert you to two upcoming opportunities to learn more about this process, which allows students in Pre-Kindergarten through 11th grade to apply to attend any school with available space outside their designated catchment area.
Learn more about the school selection process here.

Stay engaged with your child's education anytime by registering for the free Parent & Family Portal on the Infinite Campus App. You can view their grades, track their attendance, and more! Learn more here: Family & Community Engagement (FACE).

Supporting Black owned businesses in our neighborhood
|
I was lucky to visit Freedom Coffee House to warm up on these chilly mornings! They’re right in our neighborhood at 4906 Old York Rd. From coffee and tea to breakfast and pastries, a visit to Freedom Coffee is worth the trip!
Are you a business owner? Do you own a restaurant or boutique? Are you interested in becoming a block, neighborhood, or corridor leader? If so, please call and let our staff come meet and greet you! It’s almost fall—let us know your neighborhood, and we’ll come to you for a porch crawl!
Contact my office so we can come say hi!
