HARRISBURG, Nov. 12 – State Rep. Nate Davidson, D-Cumberland/Dauphin, today announced a $25,000 grant awarded for the development of the Harrisburg Tool Library on N. 3rd St. This nonprofit initiative is designed to be a place where neighbors can access tools, workspace and training on a sliding scale, promoting shared resources and community stewardship.
Tool libraries across the U.S. and abroad have proven to save residents hundreds of thousands of dollars, while also strengthening neighborhood bonds. Davidson said the Harrisburg Tool Library aims to achieve similar results, leading to lower costs, less waste and greater self-sufficiency for the community. He has championed bringing the tool library to the Harrisburg community, saying the grant money will be essential in getting this vital project off the ground and running.
“The Harrisburg Tool Library is a perfect example of what we can achieve when government and nonprofits collaborate,” Davidson said. “This grant is not just funding a building; it’s investing directly in our neighbors, giving them the tools and training to be self-sufficient, save money, and improve their homes. By promoting shared resources, we’re actively working toward a greener, more sustainable future for Harrisburg—it’s an investment in both our people and our planet."
The Harrisburg Tool Library is now accepting donations. Times for drop off can be found on its website and through its newsletter at www.hbgtoollibrary.com.
