DREXEL HILL, Dec. 11 – State Rep. Mike Zabel, D-Delaware, will host a Virtual Workshop for Enrolling in Pennie, Pennsylvania’s new healthcare marketplace, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16. People can email RepZabel@pahouse.net to participate in the online event.
“My purpose for hosting this event is to provide residents and neighbors with the information they need to understand how to use Pennie,” Zabel said. “Pennie is an option for people not enrolled in health plans through work or Medicare.”
Earlier this year, Pennsylvania launched Pennie.com – a state-run marketplace for residents to enroll for health plans. The site replaces the federally run healthcare.gov. Pennsylvania residents who are United States citizens, U.S. nationals or carry qualified immigration status are eligible to use Pennie.
Open enrollment runs from Nov. 1 through Jan. 15.
The Affordable Care Act authorized states to participate in the federal marketplace or enact their own. The Pennsylvania General Assembly passed a law to transition to a state-run health exchange in 2019. Pennsylvania is one of 14 states with a state-run marketplace.
