Zabel will host Winter Clothing and Food Drive Saturday

DREXEL HILL, Sept. 8 – State Rep. Mike Zabel will host a Winter Clothing and Food Drive from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Garrettford-Drexel Hill Volunteer Fire Co. parking lot. The fire company is located at 323 Edmonds Ave., Drexel Hill.

“Food banks and nonprofit organizations have seen a surge in demand for their help during this health pandemic and economic recession,” Zabel said. “In an effort to help nonprofits and charities meet those demands in the coming weeks and months, we are asking for residents to donate what they can to help their neighbors and friends during this difficult time.”

Residents are asked to remain in their cars during drop off, and their donated items will be removed from their vehicle’s trunk.

Food donations will benefit local food pantries in the area. Winter clothing will be given to the local nonprofit organization Grands Stepping Up as part of its Project Warm 2020 program that provides winter clothing to grandparents raising grandchildren. Items requested include winter coats, gloves/mittens, hats, scarves, slipper socks, throw blankets and any warm clothing items – for all sizes from infant to 18.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office will also have the Drug Take Back Van on site to collect unused, unwanted and expired medications to help fight the prescription drug and opioid epidemic.

Zabel’s staff will be on hand to answer questions about state programs. Contact information for his offices in Drexel Hill and Clifton Heights can be found online at RepZabel.com.
