PA House passes Webster’s landmark bills to modernize tax administration, strengthen fiscal responsibility

HARRISBURG, June 3 – State Rep. Joe Webster, D-Montgomery, today is celebrating a transformative victory for modernizing local tax administration and bolstering fiscal responsibility with the passage of H.B.s 852 and 853 in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Webster contends these two new legislative measures are set to simplify and improve Pennsylvania's tax collection process. One reform streamlines notifications and ensures that the costs of collecting taxes are clearly accounted for, giving local governments the tools they need while ensuring fairness for taxpayers. The other reform builds on this by making the entire tax collection system more transparent and accountable. Together, Webster said, these efforts would lighten the load on taxpayers and strengthen the ability of communities to fund essential services.

"With the passage of House Bills 852 and 853, we're taking practical steps to update our local tax system and tackle some long-standing issues head-on.,” Webster said. “We're making sure every Pennsylvanian feels the positive impact of fair, honest government that's transparent, efficient and stable."
