Snyder measure would extend Lemon Law protections to motorcycles

Rep. Pam Snyder has introduced legislation that would extend the state’s Lemon Law protections to motorcycle buyers. Under Pennsylvania’s Lemon Law, manufacturers must replace, repurchase or compensate vehicle owners for defects that substantially impair its use, value or safety at no cost to the purchaser. "The reasonable protections available for vehicle owners should apply to motorcycle owners," Snyder said. "If a new motorcycle is in the repair shop for 30 days during the first year of ownership through no fault of the owner, then the rider deserves a fair shake and a new deal." Read more

 

Uniontown hearing spotlights need to tackle drug, alcohol addictions

Rep. Pam Snyder participated in a House Democratic Policy Committee hearing in Uniontown to address the need for additional funding for drug and alcohol addiction and prevention programs. Fayette, Greene and Washington counties have among the highest death rates from drug overdoses in the country. Rep. Snyder says simply building more prisons is not the answer, and more treatment centers are needed. Read more

Snyder: $3.4 million approved for Dry Tavern sewerage upgrade

Pam Snyder reports that Pennvest has approved $3.4 million for the Dry Tavern Sewer Authority to extend and bolster sewer service in the Pumpkin Run area of Jefferson Township, Greene County, while sparing customers from rate increases. The financing includes a $2.7 million grant as well as a $741,500, 20-year loan at 1 percent interest. Read more

Snyder, a member of the House Labor & Industry Committee, reports that the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation offers employers a one-stop guide to everything business needs to know to help hire and retain people with disabilities. Snyder is informing residents that Variety the Children’s Charity has 250 bikes available for eligible children with disabilities and hopes residents will help spread the word.
