ALLENTOWN, April 25 – State Rep. Josh Siegel today praised the Allentown Police Department for their rapid and effective response to a shooting that occurred yesterday on Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown.
“I want to commend the Allentown Police Department for their swift arrest of Emanuel Velilla the suspect involved in yesterday’s reckless act of violence,” said Siegel. “Their quick action not only prevented further harm but also sent a strong and unequivocal message: violence will not be tolerated in our city.”
The suspect, Velilla, was taken into custody today thanks to the fast response of local law enforcement.
“This should serve as a warning to those who would bring violence, recklessness, and fear into our community—your actions will be met with swift justice,” Siegel continued. “I have full confidence that District Attorney Gavin Houlihan will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law.”
Siegel reiterated his commitment to ensuring public safety and supporting the resources needed for law enforcement to keep Allentown residents safe.
“Our city belongs to the people who live and work here peacefully—not those who seek to endanger it,” he said. "Allentown’s future will be shaped by those who respect our laws, not break them. As the weather warms, we want every resident and visitor to enjoy safe streets, safe parks, and peace of mind throughout our city.”
