Schweyer and Miller announce $1 million for trail extension

HARRISBURG, Feb. 25 – State Rep. Peter Schweyer, along with state Sen. Nick Miller, obtained a $1 million grant for the MLK Trail in Allentown, Lehigh County. The grant was approved by the state’s Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“This funding will be used to construct an extension of the MLK Trail,” said Schweyer. “This is great news as this is a popular trail and continued work will only contribute to more and more people getting out on the trail. It’s always great to work with Sen. Miller to bring back funding to our community and those we represent.”

“I am proud to have championed this critical investment in the MLK Trail in Allentown. The funding awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund will create unprecedented connectivity between our parks, giving residents and visitors alike a dynamic and accessible space to explore. This project will not only enhance recreational opportunities but also strengthen our region’s infrastructure. Additionally, the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority will receive $350,000 for an interior renovation of the Allentown Transportation Center, further improving mobility in the city.”
