Sanchez sworn in for first term as state representative

HARRISBURG, Jan. 1 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez was sworn in during a Capitol ceremony today for his first term as state representative for the 153rd Legislative District.

The swearing-in ceremony for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives corresponds with the first Tuesday in January every two years. This year is Pennsylvania’s 203rd legislative session.

“It’s an honor to represent the district I have called home for my entire life,” said Sanchez, D-Montgomery. “Over the next legislative session, I promise to be a strong voice and fierce advocate for the diverse and hardworking residents of Abington and Upper Dublin Townships by fighting for policies that put people first.”

Prior to being elected to Pennsylvania’s House, Sanchez worked as a certified public accountant, an attorney, an adjunct professor of law at Drexel University and served Abington Township as commissioner for Ward 7. Sanchez lives in Abington with his wife, Karen, and their three children.

Sanchez said that his legislative priorities include commonsense gun safety legislation, supporting public education, protecting the environment and expanding access to health care for all Pennsylvanians.

His efforts blend with the broader Plan for PA, which seeks to build a stronger economy for working families instead of serving special interests.
