Tax rebate deadline Dec. 31; heating assistance available and more

 

Don't miss your Property Tax/Rent Rebate

There is less than one month left to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent you paid in 2024. The state Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is for seniors 65 or older; widows and widowers 50 or older; and people with disabilities 18 or older. Pennie insurance deadline soon!

Pennie’s Open Enrollment period is officially open. If you or your family need health coverage for 2026, visit https://pennie.com/learn/how-to-enroll to compare plans and enroll through Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace.

 

Important dates and details:

  • Enroll by December 15 to have coverage begin January 1.
  • Pennie offers high-quality plans and resources to help you choose the right coverage for your needs.

Heating assistance available

If you need assistance with your heating bills, LIHEAP applications are now being accepted. This program assists Pennsylvanians with paying their heating bills, keeping them warm in their homes during the winter months. Get your fishing license

The PA Fish and Boat Commission announced that fishing licenses, launch permits and gift vouchers for the upcoming 2026 season are available for purchase. You can visit huntfish.pa.gov or a retail license issuing agent to purchase a license, permit or voucher today! For more information, please visit here.

CAT bikes moved in one morning!

CHALLENGE: 400 bicycles had to move two miles from the old CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation office at 1935 W. Broad Street to the new CAT location in the Walnut Street Garage.

 

CHALLENGE MET IN ONE MORNING: 130 volunteers showed up Saturday to walk the bicycles down Broad Street one by one and two by two!
