PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 31 – State Rep. Amen Brown, D-Phila., is praising the actions of law enforcement after last week’s arrests that disrupted a violent drug trafficking operation in the city’s Kensington neighborhood.
The arrests, made by the FBI with the support of local law enforcement, resulted in charges being filed against 33 people who are alleged to have distributed fentanyl, heroin, crack cocaine, and cocaine on the 3100 block of Weymouth Street.
“I want to thank local, state and federal law enforcement for their actions to disrupt this criminal organization. These drugs are a poison that impacts all of our communities and especially younger people. I grew up on these streets, and I know the allure of that lifestyle,” said Brown. “We have to continue to work together to address issues like this, and I am thankful for the efforts of law enforcement to break up these operations.”
Since taking office. Brown has worked with local and state law enforcement, as well as community organizations, to combat violence in the city and address issues like drug use, crime and safety, including meeting several times with state Attorney General David Sunday to talk about issues impacting people and neighborhoods in the community.
“This arrest is a big deal and will help take drugs and bad guys off the street. But it’s just a drop in the ocean. I am committed to working with anyone who is willing to help – regardless of party or affiliation to clean up our streets and help make people feel safe in their homes,” said Brown. “It’s on all of us to work together.
“And I want to thank all of the law enforcement professionals who contributed to these arrests – and helped make our streets a little safer.”
