Budget makes progress for PA

State budget cuts taxes, funds education

It’s long overdue, but the state finally has a budget that invests in our schools, prevents tax increases, preserves services, cuts costs, and helps create jobs here in Monroe/Pike counties.

This budget also creates an important Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit that will provide up to $805 for those who claim the federal EITC. That’s a cost-savings that is estimated to help almost 17,800 people in Monroe and Pike counties.

Appealing a permit for I-80 expansion

Earlier this month, I filed an appeal challenging the PA Department of Environmental Protection decision to issue a 401 Water Quality Certification permit for the Sunnybrook Mitigation Bank in Damascus Township, Wayne County.

The appeal comes after repeated requests for a public hearing were ignored by DEP before the permit was granted.

The Sunnybrook Mitigation Bank was designed to offset wetlands and waterway impacts caused by the I-80 Expansion Project in Monroe County. You can read more about my appeal here.
