It’s not too late to get your tax rebate

Did you get your Property Tax/Rent Rebate?

More than 425,000 Pennsylvania seniors and residents with disabilities have begun receiving a total of $258 million in rebates on property taxes and rent paid in 2024.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program benefits income-eligible seniors 65 or older, widows or widowers 50 or older, and residents with a disability 18 or older. I recently voted to expand the program to provide larger rebates and a higher qualifying income threshold. (The limit is now $46,520 for both homeowners and renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded for income calculation purposes.)

The deadline to apply is Dec. 31, but the sooner you apply, the sooner you can receive a rebate. Please remember that my office can help you apply!

Pike housing rehabilitation grants available

Eligible Pike County homeowners may receive up to $24,999 in financial assistance to make necessary health and safety-related repairs to their homes through the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Program, administered by the Pike County Office of Human Services. Qualifying repairs include but are not limited to roof replacement, heating system repairs, plumbing and electrical upgrades, and other code-compliant health and safety measures.

Residents interested in learning more or applying for the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Program should visit www.pikepa.org/housingrehab.

Working for you in Harrisburg

As our divided legislature continues to negotiate the state budget, my House of Representatives colleagues and I have been hard at work for you. During the past 2 weeks, these are just some of the good bills we have sent to the state Senate:

  • Voted YES to increase protections for municipal workers so they can have the same safeguards against assault as other public servants in PA (HB953).
  • Voted YES to protect firefighters by prohibiting firefighting foam containing PFAS (HB1261).
  • Voted YES to restore Medicaid coverage for dental services (HB583).
  • Voted YES to support new moms by expanding Medical Assistance to cover blood pressure monitors for home use as a pregnancy-related service (HB 1234).
  • Voted YES to address the use of deepfakes in campaign advertising (HB811).
  • Voted YES to ban the sale of at-risk wildlife parts or products (HB994).
  • Voted YES to prohibit junk fees on entertainment and sports tickets so consumers can “pay the price you see” (HB1216).
