Powell to celebrate families at June 7 Family Fest

HARRISBURG, May 27 – State Rep. Lindsay Powell will host a neighborhood, family-friendly festival the first Saturday in June.
Powell’s Family Fest will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at 51st and Butler streets, Pittsburgh.
The area will be filled with family-friendly activities, along with local organizations such as BikePGH, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Museums.
There will be snow cones, ice cream, food trucks and face painting. Attendees can get up close to a fire truck, enjoy a pop-up ukulele workshop, visit Carnegie Museum’s Natural History mini-museum and hang out with Duo the Duolingo owl or meet Hannah Jalapeño from Pittsburgh's Great Pierogi Race.
Visitors can try their hand at dunking one of the special guests in the dunk tank – expected participants include local officials and school district leaders.
In addition to the family-friendly activities, attendees can learn more about state and county services, as there will be representatives from the state departments of Transportation, Human Services and Labor and Industry; the county Veterans and Treasurer’s offices and Office of Equity and Engagement; and U.S. Rep. Summer Lee’s office.
