Pennsylvania Legislative Latino Caucus urges PA congressional delegation to oppose proposed federal remittance tax on working families

The Pennsylvania Legislative Latino Caucus will hold a news conference Wednesday to urge Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation to oppose any federal proposal that taxes remittances on working American immigrant families in Pennsylvania.

Who:   State Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, chair, Pennsylvania Legislative Latino Caucus

State Rep. Danilo Burgos

State Rep. Joe Hohenstein

Julio Rodriguez, Pennsylvania Citizenship and Immigration Coalition

Patty Torres, Make the Road

Shamaine Daniels, We Are Casa

Laura Beltran Figueroa, Pennsylvania Policy Center

When: 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26

Where: Capitol Media Center, Harrisburg

Why: The so-called ‘big, beautiful bill’ is currently being considered by the U.S Senate, which will tax remittances sent overseas by American and immigrant families in Pennsylvania. The federal tax rate that is currently being proposed will add a 3-5% tax to all funds sent overseas. The message to the Commonwealth’s congressional delegation is simple: no new taxes on remittances. They will only hurt working Pennsylvania families.

The news conference will also be livestreamed at: https://www.youtube.com/live/zh2JL6pyhvo

Media coverage is invited.
