O’Mara announces nearly $3.5 million in grants for 165th District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 20— State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara, D-Delaware, today announced that nearly $3.5 million in state grants has been awarded for 10 projects in the 165th Legislative District.

“These grants will pay for much-needed infrastructure and public safety improvements right here in our district,” O’Mara said. “They will make our streets safer, rehabilitate our sewer systems, and provide a new fire truck. I’m proud to do my part as your representative in Harrisburg to make sure this funding comes home.”

The following grants were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund or the Small Water and Sewer program:

  • Morton Borough: $750,000 for Woodland and Morton avenues intersection modernization
  • Swarthmore Borough: $218,400 for Swarthmore Avenue pedestrian crossing improvements
  • Upper Providence Township: $604,064 for SR 252 pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements
  • Marple Township: $75,000 for sanitary sewer rehabilitation
  • Swarthmore Borough: $170,000 for Yale Avenue stormwater management project
  • Upper Providence Township Sewer Authority: $318,750 for Greenhill Road sewer replacement
  • Morton Borough: $200,000 for Central Morton sanitary sewer rehabilitation

Additionally, these local grants were recently awarded from programs at the Department of Community and Economic Development or Department of Transportation:

  • Springfield Township Fire Company: $102,000 for a new fire truck
  • Springfield Township: $704,400 for Windsor Circle pedestrian improvements
  • Swarthmore Borough: $314,000 for Myers Avenue improvements
