Donahue: $2.50 million in grants awarded for transportation and water infrastructure needs

HARRISBURG, Jan. 20 – State Rep. Kyle Donahue today announced that $2.5 million in state funding has been awarded to support transportation and water infrastructure projects across the 113th Legislative District.

The funding will help advance a variety of critical local improvements, including road reconstruction, stormwater upgrades, and water and sewer system enhancements. Grant recipients and projects include:

  • $850,000 for roadway and pedestrian infrastructure improvements on North Main Avenue and Greenridge Street.
  • $425,080 for the second phase of the Fawnwood Stormwater Improvement project.
  • $349,384 for pavement improvements on Union Mill Road in Covington Township.
  • $300,000 to reconstruct Academy Street in the borough of Moscow.
  • $250,000 to replace sidewalks and curbing and install lighting and landscaping along Capouse Avenue in the city of Scranton.
  • $250,000 to enhance the streetscape of Penn Avenue/Capouse Avenue in the city of Scranton.
  • $80,597 for the Elmhurst Sewer Authority Improvements Project.

“Securing this funding represents a significant investment in the safety, reliability, and long-term health of our communities,” Donahue said. “These projects address real infrastructure needs -- from safer roads to modernized water and sewer systems -- and will help ensure our region continues to grow and thrive. I’m proud to work with local leaders and partners to deliver tangible results for the people of the 113th District.”

The grants are provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through its Multimodal Transportation Fund and Small Water and Sewer Program.
