Haddock secures $3.8 million in state grants

HARRISBURG, May 20 – State Rep. Jim Haddock said communities, organizations and schools in his district will benefit from $3.82 million in state grants awarded today by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“My office staff spends a lot of time working with local officials on the state grant process. It’s all worthwhile when everyone sees the positive outcomes that are generated when the funding is put toward worthwhile projects that benefit so many people,” said Haddock, D-Luzerne/Lackawanna.

“I am also glad to coordinate with Senator Marty Flynn’s office in advocating to the CFA board and our leadership teams to get these tax dollars returned to our area.”

Haddock said the Old Forge School District will receive $400,000 through the Solar for Schools Grant Program that was created in July 2024 to reduce the cost of implementing solar energy systems into schools across the state. The funding may cover the purchase and installation of equipment, permit fees, energy storage and utility interconnection.

Today’s announcement also includes grants from the Local Share Account, which is made possible by revenue at Pennsylvania’s casinos. The funding may be used for economic and community development and other public interest projects within host and contiguous counties where casinos are located.
