TAYLOR, May 21 – State Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna, announced today she has joined others in asking Gov. Tom Wolf to allow curbside transactions for retail businesses still shuttered by the administration’s closure order, including those in Lackawanna County.
“As someone who comes from the health care field, I believe it is possible to follow the guidelines and safety measures outlined by our Department of Health and the CDC,” Kosierowski said. “Our small-business owners are the backbone of our communities. They have worked with us to effectively mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Allowing them to reopen and offer curbside retail can be achieved safely utilizing PPE, social distancing and good hygiene. We can get our economy moving again without any jeopardy to all of the collective hardships and sacrifices, while continuing to mitigate the spread of the virus.
“It’s clear that the administration’s mitigation efforts have protected Pennsylvanians during this pandemic, effectively preventing our health care system from being overburdened,” Kosierowski said. “That is why I’m respectfully requesting that the governor issue an executive order to allow all retailers in Pennsylvania to engage in curbside pickup in accordance with necessary public health protocols.”
