Clubhouse of Lehigh County wants to help
|
Beginning Nov. 1, in response to the many individuals and families losing their SNAP benefits, Clubhouse of Lehigh County is stepping up to make sure no member goes hungry.
They will be offering three meals a day to their members which include breakfast, lunch, and to-go dinners. These meals will be available daily at no cost to members, ensuring continued access to healthy, filling food during this difficult time.
This expansion of their meal program has been made possible thanks to a generous donation. This support allows them to continue to help build the community, promote wellness, and help provide stability for those living with mental illness.

This is another reminder about my upcoming FREE paper shredding event. This will be a joint event with my colleague from the State Senate, Sen. Nick Miller. It’s a great opportunity to safely dispose of your old personal papers and documents without worrying about the risk of sensitive material falling into the wrong hands.
The shredding event will take place on November 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Whitehall Township Municipal Campus, located at 3219 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, PA. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office.
I hope to see you there.

Election Day is this Tuesday, November 4. Make sure your voice is heard by having a plan to vote.
If you are voting in person on Election Day, polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find your polling place: vote.pa.gov/Polls
Mail ballot voters should make sure to:
- Seal your ballot inside both provided envelopes;
- Sign and write the current date on the outer return envelope;
- Return your ballot to the County Office Building BEFORE 8 p.m. on Election Day.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you haven’t put your ballot in the mail yet, it’s probably too late; the safest approach is to drop it off in person (at your county election office or at an official drop-box) before the Tuesday at 8?p.m. deadline, or take it with you when you vote in person so it can be spoiled.
Please note that my office will be closed on Election Day. We will reopen on Wednesday, November 5.

Change your clocks and check your batteries
|
Remember to "fall back" this weekend for Daylight Saving Time and set your clocks back one hour before heading to bed on Saturday, November 1.
The Office of the State Fire Commissioner adds that the clock change is a reminder for Pennsylvanians to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Working alarms can cut the risk of dying in a home fire by up to 50%.
|
Need a smoke alarm? You can request a free one from the American Red Cross here.

While SNAP food benefits have been put on hold due to the federal shutdown, scammers are trying to take advantage. PA’s Department of Human Services reports that SNAP clients are receiving calls from the numbers listed below, claiming that their benefits are on hold until they verify their eligibility and asking them to provide their PIN
1-888-239-7710
1-888-272-8720
1-888-737-6551
It’s a SCAM. DHS will never ask for personal information in an unsolicited text message, email, or phone call. Please report any texts or calls about DHS benefits that seem suspicious by calling the DHS fraud tip line at 1-844-DHS-TIPS (1-844-347-8477).
