This week in session
We had a wonderful week in session and officially kicked off budget season! The state House welcomed Ambassador Tom Chin-Chiang Lee, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in New York. We celebrated the strong economic relationship with a resolution honoring the friendship between Pennsylvania and Taiwan and look forward to more economic development!
We also passed bills to help our neighbors and improve our communities including a bill requiring health insurers to cover contraceptives and banning unofficial sellers to list tickets for sale even though they do not actually possess – and may never have - those tickets.
Finally, we delivered the bipartisan Cyber Charter Reform Act – which would return more than a half billion dollars to taxpayers, set limits on how much taxpayer money cyber charters can stockpile, stop cybers from offering gifts to parents to enroll their kids, and put low-performing schools on notice. Our bill makes sure the money spent on cyber charters is spent to educate our kids and makes sure YOU have a say about how cybers do business.
