Mayes honored with Thomas J. Zuber Memorial Patient Safety Award

HARRISBURG, Sept. 23 -- State Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes, D-Allegheny, was awarded the Thomas J. Zuber Memorial Patient Safety Award from the Nursing Alliance of PA of SEIU Healthcare PA at their Leadership Assembly last week.

“As a longtime healthcare access advocate and national reproductive justice leader, fighting for bills like the Patient Safety Act and co-leading the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus continues my calling to expand access to healthcare for all who need it and to protect them when they do seek the care,” Mayes said.

Mayes was honored alongside Rep. Ismail Smith-Wade-El and the nurses who have organized 1,000 of their colleagues to form their union at UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital.

“I’m proud to stand with those who take care of the health of the people of our Commonwealth,” said Mayes. “I am honored to receive this award and I thank everyone who has played a part in me receiving this award.”
