The Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus (PBMHC) was founded on October 17, 2023, by our Co-Chairs—Rep. Morgan Cephas, Rep. Gina H. Curry, and Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes—who are committed to ending racial disparities in maternal health outcomes. Together, they launched a bipartisan movement to advance legislation, advocacy, and budgetary investments to ensure that every mom and birthing person in Pennsylvania can give birth safely and with dignity.
If you’d like to join us at the anniversary celebration, you can register here.

Changes Likely Coming to Pennie
|
Due to changes in federal law and the non-renewal of the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits by Congress, health insurance costs are expected to rise significantly for Pennie enrollees in 2026. Premiums are likely to increase by at least 82%, with some individuals potentially seeing their costs double or even quadruple. If you are currently enrolled, you should be receiving communications from Pennie about these changes. In the meantime, make sure your information with Pennie is up to date, including your income. You can also begin exploring other plans to see if there are more cost-effective options for you. The 2026 open enrollment period for health insurance plans will begin on November 1, 2025.
