Urging Senate Republicans to fund transit, PABMHC Women’s Health Advocate award, and MORE!

As I continue my work in the 24th Legislative District, know that my staff and I work for you. If you have any concerns, contact me at RepMayes@pahouse.net or call my office at 412.665.5502.

Urging the Senate to MOVE on the Budget

The state budget is overdue, and a transit funding plan is stalled. That’s a problem for schools, human services, and transit systems—some are dipping into reserves, some are borrowing, and some are planning service cuts.

The House passed a budget last month, but the Republican-controlled Senate hasn’t touched it. We also approved a funding plan for PRT and other transit systems, but the Senate hasn’t voted on that either.

We must keep the pressure on Senate Republicans to acknowledge the economic reality of our region, support kids getting to school and commuters getting to work. We must fund public transportation in Pittsburgh and across the state of Pennsylvania.

PA Black Maternal Health Caucus Honored with Women’s Health Advocate Award

Adagio Health will present its 2025 Women’s Health Advocate Award to the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus during the Leadership & Legacies: Recognizing Pittsburgh Women’s Health Heroes event tonight, August 8.

The VIP Reception begins at 6 p.m. with the main event taking place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Roost (Near Market Square) at 250 Forbes Ave., Suite 201, Pittsburgh, 15222.

Adagio Health established this event to honor individuals and groups making a measurable impact on women’s health throughout Western Pennsylvania.  This year’s Leadership & Legacies ceremony celebrates the Caucus’s efforts to improve birthing outcomes for Black mothers, birthing people, and families through the Pennsylvania MOMNIBUS, our groundbreaking legislative package of maternal health bills which align with Adagio Health’s own priorities and initiatives.

As the PA Black Maternal Health Co-Chair, I will be in attendance along with Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, to accept the award.
