Working for YOU in Harrisburg
|
For the past few months in Harrisburg, my colleagues in the House and I have been negotiating to finalize a state budget that every Pennsylvanian deserves. This week, we passed House Bill 1330, a General Appropriations bill, with a final vote of 105-97.
With the budget already two weeks behind the original deadline, the bill is under consideration in the Senate. I urge you to contact your state Senator and ask them to encourage their chamber to engage in budget discussions so that we can move the business of our Commonwealth forward.

$100,000 Grant Awarded to the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater
|
I had the honor of presenting a $100,000 check to the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater at their House Party fundraiser themed “Lavender Wave” in East Liberty last weekend.
It is so important that we invest in artists and creatives who drive our cultural economy and center the lives and experiences of Black and queer people in Pittsburgh and across the commonwealth.
Most importantly, we must own our artistic, cultural and creative future and I am deeply committed to the journey of Kelly-Strayhorn Theater as they build their new home in the 24th Legislative District.

You can apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent you paid in 2024. Last session, we passed landmark legislation that allowed more Pennsylvanians than ever before to qualify for a rebate. Then, we took another step forward by increasing the maximum annual income from $45,000 to $46,520.
This program is for seniors 65 or older; widows and widowers 50 or older; and people with disabilities 18 or older. For more information, to see if you qualify and to apply, contact my office at 412.665.5502 or click here. The application deadline has been extended until Dec. 31.

Summer break shouldn’t mean empty plates. SUN Bucks provides $120 per eligible child on a prepaid EBT card to help families cover grocery costs when school is out. Children already on SNAP are automatically enrolled, and households not currently receiving SNAP may still qualify.
Visit dhs.pa.gov/SUNBucks to check eligibility, explore program resources, and submit your application.
